The Metal Hammer's double page spread consist of one image of the band featured out in the snow with text, headings and other images surrounding it. The overall layout of the magazine is done very well since the text and other features of the double page spread don’t take up too much of the page which allows the background to take full effect without making the text seeming out of place and unnoticeable. As for the image itself it's rather well done and perfectly fits the mood of the magazine, it was also smart of the editorial team to have a proper background for the image itself instead of just being blank so that no empty space is left.
The other images used are to show more of the band and what they get up to which can boost the overall presentation and is mostly used for humourus purposes since most of the images are rather silly and embarrassing. As for the text the heading font is very big and bold using red and white colours to make it stand out. The font also has a unique style which helps it to stand out even more. It also reflects the content of the article in both words and style and can easily be associated with the general audience since the article is about sex and drugs and other stuff (and mostly young to middle age adults are most commonly associated with these). However the text used in the main article is very basic and small which can difficult to red.
What’s interesting to note is that in the top left hand side of the page and suitcase saying A.A.A (access all areas),this is used to show what part of the magazine they user is reading. Now it most magazines headings are often used to signify what specific type of page someone is on but what metal hammer has done is used and image as well as text in this situation. I think this was a very wise move because not only does it boost the overall presentation but they image can easily been seen as recognisable which makes it easy for general reader to know where to find this specific type of page.
The magazine also makes use of alteration (“Pete spider Spiby is staring a story that’s got the making of the classic”), rhetorical questions (“What was he doing there? I don’t know... maybe he was an anal gnome?”), rule of 3 (“Hammer tags a long with fasting-rising U.K rockers the black spider”...) and 2nd person (plural which helps to emphasis and identify the editorial team which makes the magazine a lot more impersonal).
